Class Info

Thank you for choosing Crosstown Driving for your driver's education needs! Our process is certified and approved by the state of Idaho. The following steps will guide you through the process of becoming a licensed driver.

​If the student is under 17 years old, they are required by the state of Idaho to take the complete Driver's Ed program consisting of:

  • 30 online classroom hours

  • 6 driving hours with instructor

  • 6 observation hours

Adult students are welcome, but space may be limited.  Please call for availability.​

#1 Register

  • Call for availability 

  • Use the REGISTER tab to complete the​​

Registration and Liability Form

  • Mail forms with the $25 non-refundable registration fee to P.O. Box 153 Rathdrum, ID 83858

#2  Permit

Purchase a Learner's Permit at the DMV  and bring a copy of the temporary permit receipt to your first drive.

DMV Requirements to Obtain A Permit:

  • Must be 14.5 years old

  • Parent present with ID

  • VOC (Verification Of Compliance) letter from school or counselor OR Homeschool Affidavit Form at the DMV

  • Birth Certificate 

  • Social Security Card

  • Photo Identification- Passport/Student ID Card accepted

  • Proof of Residency- Parent's utility bill, bank statement, etc.

#3  Schedule

  • We will call you before class starts to schedule drives and provide the online class link to begin classroom instruction.

  • Students will be in the car  for 2 hours per week for 6 weeks - one hour they're driving and one hour observing the other student.

  • We do our best to coordinate drives with students' schedules.​

  • Payments may be made in cash or check and must be paid before the driving lesson begins.

#4  Learn

  • 30 Hours Online Education  with IODE online classroom with a live instructor​​

  • 6 Hours Driving with Instructor

  • 6 Hours in Car Observation with Instructor

  • This is a 6 week course which includes the online class and the 6 driving lessons done concurrently.
